This is a short song, just two little verses, and sung to a traditional Scottish tune. It says nothing new or unexpected about God or our relationship with him. But sometimes, all we need is a reminder of the basics. The Lord is our Saviour. He does want to ‘bless and heal’ with his love. He is with us in all circumstances (‘days of doubt and toil, in our joy and in our pain’), and wants to guide us, again by his love.

For a Scottish song, I searched for a view of that fair country that Linda would have remembered. The photo is one I took on a walk together, when she was still able to climb at least a modest hill. It is a view across the capital city from the hills one side to the iconic Arthur’s Seat on the far side. The calm of ancient hills, sandwiching the busyness of modern city life. God is found in both.
